Opening Paragraph:

"When my husband and I got married, I did not walk down the aisle to traditional wedding music. Instead, the strangely sad, yet enchanting sounds of the Forrest Gump theme song filled the chapel. In my imagination, I could see soft white feathers slowly falling to earth around me as I walked towards the man I love, to start our future together. I have wondered many times since then whether, had I known that day what was waiting for us, I would have turned around and ran. Nevertheless, even now, with all the knowledge that hindsight brings, I still know that I would have walked towards him. He was and is my destiny."

Excerpt....

"I found myself back at Dr D’s office on a warm, sunny day in February 2004. John was there with me, albeit with a bit of reservation and even some resentment. He didn’t have much of a choice though; I was like a woman possessed. Dr D assured me that the fact that we weren’t pregnant yet probably didn’t have anything to do with the cancer, but he would do another Pap smear test just to make sure. He also ordered a whole battery of tests, including a full semen analysis for John. John didn’t say anything, but I could tell that he didn’t like it one bit. However, we went for all the blood tests, and John went for his semen analysis that same afternoon.

Three days later I got another call from Dr D’s receptionist. I was beginning to dread hearing her voice! She asked us to come and see Dr D that same afternoon. I asked her whether I couldn’t just speak to him over the phone, but she insisted that we make the appointment. It was a very nervous couple that was waiting for Dr D outside his office.

He greeted us warmly, and then told us that he didn't have very good news...We were ‘infertile.’ "
